LAKES
Hansen Dam Recreation Center: Take the 210 west, exit Osborne, and follow the signs.  Open daily from dawn to dusk.  Kids swim for free, adults $1.25.  All you need for fishing is a fishing license and equipment.

 Short Bike Rides in and around Los Angeles
San Fernado Valley Biking Club has group rides every Saturday and Sunday at 8 am.  Meet at CSUN parking lot, Nordhoof and Darby.  Free.  347-6148.

PUBLIC TENNIS COURTS

One court under the oaks at McGroarty Park.  Sometimes leafy, but usually available.  Located in front of the McGroarty Arts Center at 7570 McGroarty Terrace, Tujunga.

Four courts at Montrose Park.  Very well maintained by Glendale Parks and Rec., but popular and reserved Mondays and Wednesdays, 4-6 pm, Wednesdays and Fridays 1-3:30 pm (summer only), Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8 pm, and the courts are washed on Thursdays.
