"Thinking"

Here are some samples of unsigned art work from various artists of Tierra del Sol, the large inset building behind manicured grounds you see as you pass on Sunland Boulevard on the way into the San Fernando Valley.

I have been collecting Tierra del Sol arts for years and appreciate them as potently expressive works that are devoid of any pretense.  Works such as "Thinking" above and "Fantasy Lady" below brought to mind originals I had seen by Otto Dix when I was an intern in the department of German Expressionism at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.  "Broken Rainbow" below reminds me of Franz Marc's color play.  The title and whimsy of "Cabins in the Sky" are somewhat reminiscent of Marc Chagall.   Even if the Tierra del Sol artists never studied such masters, what both groups living a continent and generation apart evidently share are highly sensitive souls that express what it is like living through times of struggle and trouble.  Possibly they have both tapped a similar stream of the subconscious.

You too can purchase Tierra del Sol works as they are now on exhibition and for sale at the McGroarty Arts Center for an unspecified length of time this summer.
